Mayer H. have completed the first two of 20 roadside service stations for a new highway running from Azerbaijan to Turkey, through Georgia. The huge concrete structures shelter petrol filling stations and stretch around glass walls that enclose supermarkets, farmers’ markets and exhibitions for arts and crafts.

Outside Offices: Detached Work Spaces

Why settle for a cramped corner of a noisy house when your home office could be a separate unit tucked into the greenery of your backyard? Detached office modules, art studios, recording studios and other work spaces help keep the line between work and home life sharply delineated, but cut your commute down to mere steps. Modern and often modular, these compact office designs fit into virtually any outdoor space, and they’re so good-looking, they practically function as yard art.

Green Roofs Are Changing Architecture

It used to be that roofs were up top where nobody could see them, covered in gravel and full of mechanical equipment. Architectural renderings were pretty much all shot from eye level. Not anymore; green roof technology is making roofs into habitable architecture, and changing the way architects think of buildings.

Check Out The Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion!

The Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion, better known as Tverrfjellhytta was designed by Snøhetta, the observation pavilion is located on the outskirts of Dovrefjell National Park and allows the public to enjoy programs offered by the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Foundation. It provides shelter to the groups of students and visitors that come to learn about the program.

The idea behind the design was to contrast the boxy steel and glass exterior with the organic wood curves of the interior. The wood mimics erosion on a rock or ice caused by natural events, which provides unique seating for the public. They’ve managed to create a cozy and durable space for the people to take in the view and learn about the area.

Paper Architecture

Talk about taking paper airplanes to a whole new level! Who would have thought you can transform a piece of a paper into such a masterpiece of entire cities, balconies, tiny windows, even tiny people! Dutch artist, Ingrid Siliakus, begins with a 90 degree fold to give her mini cityscapes depth and dimension, with the end result eerily similar to pop-up books. It takes 20-30 prototypes for Ingrid to land the final design, which she says “working with paper forces me to be humble, since this medium has a character of its own that asks for cooperation.”

We certainly don’t have that much patience, do you?

Live Modern: Casa Lasso

We may have just fallen head over heels for this home! The shape is not only functional for the movement of winds, but it certainly catches your eye with its beauty. We love with how one side meets the grassy hill and on the other a seemingly man made structure. Do you think this home is as dreamy as we think it is?
