Take a peek into Little Italy’s newest dining hotspot, Cloak & Petal – and see what pieces came from Hold It Contemporary Home!

As 2017 came to a close, Little Italy welcomed the opening of its newest dining destination, Cloak & Petal. A refreshing take on Japanese social dining, the restaurant is modern and inviting, and triggers all of your senses.

Upon entering the space, visitors are drawn to the spacious bar that is tucked underneath two eye-catching cherry blossom trees. Meant to pay homage to subways of Tokyo, the restaurant is filled with street-style graphic artwork by San Diegan artist Shane Bowden. Along with the artwork, mixed materials such as wood, subway tile, marble, leather, and fabrics combine to create layers of texture and interest.

The menu is a showcase of executive chef Trace “TJ” Jerome’s talents, featuring sharable items including traditional nigiri and sashimi, plus sushi rolls and unique salads and appetizers. At the bar, you’ll find local craft beer, wine, and sake in addition to a customized cocktail list curated by Cervantes Magana.

Our very own Michelle Gomez worked closely with artist Shane Bowden on the furniture selection for the space. Read on to see the eclectic collection.

 

The bar features a collection of Satine barstools by Nuevo.

 

The booths each have a marble top Simone dining table and Tatiana dining chairs from Four Hands.

 

In the dining area are Lucy side tables and Bandera dining chairs, also from Four Hands.
