Arbor Day 2019 - Hold It Contemporary Home Gives Back

Arbor Day + Mike’s Tree in Balboa Park

Late last year, we launched a new initiative to help regrow California’s forests that were destroyed from the recent devastating fires. So far we have planted 253 trees, and with the funds raised this past quarter, we decided to share the green love locally with a donation to Freinds of Balboa Park for the 115th annual Arbor Day Celebration.

We are happy to say that on Arbor Day, April 26th, we will sponsor the planting of a large, beautiful Engelmann Oak tree, plus a little extra to put towards care for all the trees of the Park.

We are dedicating this tree to Mike McAllister, our company’s Managing Partner who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer last year. Now we will always have a place to visit with him, enjoy the park, and catch some shade.

Thank you to our incredible clients for a fantastic start to a prosperous, well-designed and green 2019!

Mike’s Tree: Engelmann Oak

Engelmann Oak

Mike’s tree (#7 on map above) will be planted in the West Mesa of Balboa Park, at Oak Canyon at Cypress Grove (cross streets at Balboa Drive and Quince Street). His tree will be easily accessible from the pathway and has a bench close by. The Engelmann Oak is a beautiful rare oak native to Southern California. Suburban sprawl has eliminated these oaks from the majority of its native range, so we are proud to be able to bring one back into our beloved Balboa Park!
