The CODE collection is the result of collaboration between Calligaris and Nascent Design, a Milan-based brand agency that specializes in the development of strategic and multidimensional design projects. CODE is the litmus test for growth of the Calligaris brand and its ever stronger positioning in the national and international design scene.

A natural progression of the brand’s evolution, the CODE collection results from the company’s need to further extend its offering to furnishing accessories, including the various different accessory categories. Although the brand continues with its simple design style suited to everyday needs, the CODE collection allows for little extravagancies through collaboration with young talents from the world of Italian design.

The company has decided to make this collection the playing field to encourage the professional growth of young Italian designers, offering them a serious opportunity to make a name for themselves in the international market with products that are able to reflect the latest market and creative trends. The objectives of the CODE project are expressive, refreshing and surprising accessories. With a touch of color and subtle humor, learn more why cellular shades are becoming so popular among designers. 

For CODE Matteo Cibic has designed many objects, including a mirror, a table lamp and three rugs. Kioo is a table-top mirror. Its iconic shape is reinterpreted in a contemporary style with simple lines and bright colours. Pom Pom a striking LED lamp. Like an exotic plant from some fantasy otherworld, the light bulbs are supported by a coloured metal structure, with soft-touch finish. Two further versions have evolved: floor-standing and ceiling-hung. Marocco is a rug with an exotic soul. In a play of cross-references and suggestions, the design of colourful mosaic in a Moroccan hammam becomes an urban rug. An amazing bit of magic that Matteo Cibic has repeated in a further two models: Arabia, which reproduces a fragment of the giant carpet commissioned by the sultan of Persia in the early eighteenth century and Africa, inspired by the typical rush mats of central Africa.

For CODE, Busetti Garuti Redaelli have designed some multi-function objects: the Tender coffee table, the Bumper coat hanger and the Moss mirror. Tender is an occasional table in painted metal with a shaped hole in the top allowing cables to be passed through, making it a fun, multi-purpose accessory for any room in need of somewhere to place things. Bumper is a coat hanger/shelf in shaped sheet metal, painted in five colours which, with its pure geometric shape, acts as a shelf for holding pocket contents and small objects and as a coat hanger. Moss is a modular mirror comprising 2 hexagonal components, a mirror and a coloured container, which can create regular or extravagantly-shaped configurations.

The CODE collection is completed by three multiform and unconventional lamps. Big Wave is the classic cone-shaped shade which, cheekily created in oversize version by Michele Menescardi, becomes an amazing floor lamp. Baku, created by Pio and Tito Toso, is a delicate and versatile table lamp. It has a curved metal structure with transparent cable, plug and switch to enhance its simplicity. Stefano Claudio Bison is the creator of the imaginative Show-Her, a funky and iconic floor lamp in coloured metal, which mimics the form of a large shower head that unexpectedly sheds light.
