Color of the Year!

It is that time of year again, Pantone has picked the 2012 Color of the Year. After the bright, uplighting color of 2011 (Honeysuckle), Pantone has gone bold for 2012 with the color Tangerine Tango! The reddish orange hugh can be found on the runways, and now on your walls, coffee mugs and fabrics. Pantone says “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”  What do you think of Tangerine Tango?

Mountain Refuge

As if climbing mountains isn’t enough of a thrill for you, try sleeping hanging over the edge in a new design by LEAPfactory architects. Natural History

Centuries old fossils meet modern design at the Natural History Museum in Utah. According to the press release about the project, “the building is conceived as an abstract extension and transformation of the land: its formal and material qualities derive from the region’s natural landscape of rock, soil, minerals and vegetation. Further reinforcing the essential continuity of nature and human experience is the landscape design strategy, which, in blurring the distinction between natural vegetation and topography and intentional interventions, places humans at the nexus of environmental stewardship.”

While trees are being blown down during the Santa Ana winds in California, it is a good thing to be reminded of the thickness of their trunks. The work called “Billon” was created with polystyrene and resin to support the wood. What do you think of this work?
