This steel home stands out in the lush green landscape in Santa Ana, California. The architects, Sander Architects, created the Residence for a Sculpture 3 had that contradiction in mind. The architects said “A smooth, taut facade is lifted above the hillside and reflects the linear displacement of spaces“.

Tiger! Tiger!

North Park is claiming another great place for brews and eats with the addition of Tiger! Tiger! to the neighborhood. Tiger! Tiger! opened back at the end of October but the newer restaurant is still surprising people with its huge list of local brews and delicious menu. The decor is simplistic with reclaimed woods as the stars of the show.

Rather than staying at a ski lodge and skiing the mountain, why not ski and stay in one place. The Koutalaki Ski Village would offer luxurious accommodations and sweet slopes for its guests. Designed by Danish architects BIG have created this unique idea that would allow skiers and snowboarders to take a elevator to the roof and then enjoy a smooth ride down to the village. In the square, shopping, ice skating and restaurants.

Open Air Library

Fresh air and literature- what more could you ask for. Architects in Germany have created an Open Air Library in the town of Magdeburg with a small budget of just $325,000. The park-like area offers reading nooks, lawns, seating and of course, shelves filled with books. The Open Air Library spans about 1,600 square feet of space and was constructed from a facade from a warehouse in the City of Hamm.

Gehry and The Grammy’s

 

Renowned architect Frank Gehry has a hand in the 54th Grammy Awards. The architect designed the official poster for the awards. The Recording Academy says the design “integrates traditional Grammy iconography with [Gehry's] unique architectural style in a piece that mirrors The Recording Academy’s commitment to celebrating excellence and diversity in art and culture year-round.”
