The San Diego Museum of Art is hosting it First Friday Film night with the Oscar nominated film, “Midnight in Paris”. The event begins tonight at 7pm in the James S Copley Auditorium. The museums Curators will discuss the selection, as well as relevant art, before the showing. For tickets or more information, visit the museum’s website.

The 2012 Light Festival in Belgium is wowing visitors this year. Especially the Luminarie De Cagna used more than 55,000 LEDs to create a spectacular display. Throughout the festival there are also flowers and aquariums made from lights, but this one happens to be our favorite.

Last weekend, San Diego welcomed the Farmer’s Insurance Open PGA Tour to La Jolla. Hold It Contemporary Home was excited to be a part of the fun by providing a lounge for the Punta Brava Pavilion. Punta Brava is a Tiger Woods designed course in Ensenada, Mexico. Punta Brava, along with Macallan invited Hold It to help spice up their space on the 8th green. The views were spectacular, both looking out of the pavilion and looking in. The white vinyl Lola earned a more masculine edge with accents of cowhides, Auskin pillow and rustic bar tables.

Playful and creative, these ballon lamps from Estiluz are putting a smile on our faces. The design would obviously work well in a child’s room, but with a little imagination, they could really light up any space.

Normally, when piping stretches across channels and streams, the result is ugly, rusted pipes, causing the area to look less than perfection. But MJP architects have designed a bridge to hide the piping and wires, with a sleek, steel design. The curved lines floating across the steel offer venting for the wires, as well as helping reduce glare for trains, boats and runners.

Well, artist Guy Laramee found completely new meaning in books, by using them as the material to create sculptures. Palm Springs is only a few weeks away from hosting another Modernism Week. Beginning on February 16, Palm Springs will spend 11 days celebrating mid-century modern homes, architects and designs. With plenty of tours, lectures, events and parties, Palm Springs will be the perfect space to admire the Modern homes surrounding the area.

This gives new meaning to the California Roll. The California Roll House design by Christopher Daniel offers a daring mix of futuristic design and simplistically. The seemingly seamless material wraps itself up to create a living space. The materials are energy-efficient and the design can be easily put together is almost any lot space. No chopsticks required.

Chicago architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill have created a design for the Wujiang, China skyline that will feature a 30-story operable window. The 75-story building was selected as the design for the city of Wujiang and will allow those on all sides to enjoy the views.

Feel like lounging around outside? Well in Vienna, a public space has been filled with hammocks so visitors and residents can do exactly that, just hang around. The design by Heri & Salli offers a great escape within the city. Not to mention the design is pretty cool.
