Gravity Stool by Amsterdam-based designer Jólan van der Wiel is a project that if nothing else, it’s quite magical. Using a combination of gravity and magnetic fields, he’s able to sculpt these organically shaped stools that are unique and one-of-a-kind. So, how does he do it? Well, to begin with he’s concocted a mixture of liquid plastic and iron. He’s also designed a “magnet machine” that houses super strong magnets that basically lift the material up forming the unusual shapes that the stool becomes.

Belgian designer Maarten De Ceulaer has designed a perfectly named line of seating entitled Mutation Series. The bubbly-looking pieces are meant to resemble a cellular mutation or even a nuclear reaction, a virus, or something that has grown abnormally freakish. The project can also be seen as a new way to upholster classic pieces but in a sculptural way. Covered in a durable velvet-like finish, each piece is completely unique and nearly impossible to replicate.

Derek Manson has created a 3D printed electric guitar composed of suspended polycarbonate polymer “tendons”. The RP Guitar is manufactured in one piece using additive 3D fabrication which is also known as Rapid Prototyping or 3D Printing. The main body is made from a polycarbonate polymer and the central core is CNC machined wood which still allows for excellent tonal properties.

Designed by Spanish firm ART-TIC, this design is inspired by the Ossa monocasco motorcycle of Santiago Herrero, the legendary Grand Prix racer who died racing in 1970. No word on when it will actually get into production and the only disappointment might be that it’s a bike, not a motorcycle!

I give to you the “FreeKey- Press to Open Key Ring!” The piece is made of a flat metal three-loop ring with one conveniently placed bump in the middle loop. That bump creates leverage when you press the top ring down allowing you to slip keys on and off. It’s simple, yet useful, and makes you wonder why someone, perhaps you, didn’t invent it ages ago!

Who said walking on rocks had to be painful? This rug by Neora Zigler, not only resembles a pebble design, but is actually made with real pebbles! Each pebble is individually sewn inside of the fabric to form the carpet, creating an appearance of being light weight and soft, but is surprisingly heavy and firm because of the stones inside.
