Dear Photograph is a blog that brings the past and blends it into the present. People from across the world have been visiting and submitting photos to the blog to share their glimpse into the past. The idea is pretty simple, hold up a photograph and position it correctly so it blends the past and present and then take a photo. The creator of the site Taylor Jones, stumbled upon the idea when he was standing in his kitchen looking at a photo of himself and his younger brother was sitting in the exact same place. The photos submitted also have a caption starting with “Dear Photograph” and then their thoughts of the image. Each day, one of the submitted photos is put up on the blog. The photos are heartwarming, sad and funny. Here is a small taste but visit www.dearphotograph.com to see for yourself.
Caption for photo above:
Dear Photograph,
I drained 3’s all day!

A famous Van Gough painting is sprouting some amazement in Trafalgar Square in London. London’s National Gallery has recreated the famous “A Wheatfield, with Cypresses” by Vincent Van Gough out of living plants. More than 25 varieties and 8,000 plants have been used to create the image on a wall in Trafalgar Square. As the plants grow, the image created becomes more and more like the century old painting. It is all part of General Electric’s and the Gallery’s carbon plan to supply energy for the Gallery’s needs. The “Living Wall” will be on display until the end of October.

When you think of a typewriter, you probably think of the old technology that was once used before computer word processors came about. A large number of American’s have probably never even used the old machine- but this young artist looked beyond the less advanced technology and saw a device for creating art. And not even the art of the written word, she creates images. Keira Rathbone has created stunning images using the strokes of the typewriter. Keira has more stunning images on her Facebook page if you’d like to check it out.
Maybe I should find an old record player and see if I can create anything with that…
