The Boskke Sky Planter gives gravity a new place in design. Designed by Patrick Morris, the upside-down Sky Planter has two advantages that make it different from a regular planter. One, you can conserve up to 80% water, and two, you only have to refill the self-watering planter once or twice a month. This is a bonus for travelers or those with a not-so-green thumb.

Korean designer Seungji Mun figured out how to offer pet owners a fun, dynamic piece of furniture to share with their cats. This built-in system for cats to have their fun while being close to owners was designed with functionality in mind – crowded urban living spaces leave too little space for pet furniture. This propels the Cat Tunnel Sofa to a level of versatility that solves the space problems for both humans and their feline friends.

These little metal wall hooks from Polish designer Oskar Zieta are made from a process that inflates sheets of steel using high-pressure air. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that has beautiful surface variations to catch the light. Because minimal material is needed, Zieta’s pieces are much lighter than they appear. Hang bags, coats or simply let them mark the spot on a blank wall.

Designed by Francesco Librizzi Studio, it sits in House C, a 1900s house in Milan that still has many original details. The staircase takes up little space in the small room and leads to a loft-like sleeping area. The black steel against the stark white walls adds a sculptural element to the room with its lines and geometry. What a way to think outside the box when it comes to ladders and staircases!

Creative destruction takes on a new meaning with Art Academy Utrecht graduate Mianne de Vries’ Curious Vase. “The only way to discover what is inside is to destroy the vase,” says de Vries. “But if you destroy the vase to find out what’s in it, there is no turning back.” The Curious Vase is composed of several vases one inside the other with variations of two to four in each.
