St. Baldrick’s Shave-A-Thon

Shaving heads for a great cause! The 4th Annual St. Baldrick’s Shave-A-Thon is heading to San Diego on March 10. The fundraising event features brave men AND WOMEN going bald to help raise money and awareness for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research. Hold It Contemporary Home’s very own Mike McAllister will be shaving his head once again this year. So make a donation, come to the event or shave your head and help put an end to childhood cancer!

Olympic Committee House

The Olympic arenas in London are not the only buildings getting attention. The Olympic Museum in Georgia was just refurbished by Architects of Invention and they have created a mind-bending staircase. The creative design allows visitors to travel from floor to floor while taking in the amazing design and unique twist and turns of the staircase.

We are thrilled to see some images of one of our client’s home’s featured in San Diego Magazine this month. Almost all of the furniture around his home is from Hold It Contemporary Home. Check out this wild design by Architects HWKN for a courtyard in New York. The great design is both is unique and bold. The design would be a space for visitors to take refuge and will even squirt water from hidden cannons. The Wendy will be completed in June.

The Gossip on Manhattan’s Upper East side is that there were some GREAT pieces of furniture in Monday night’s Gossip Girl episode. The show featured the Gus* Modern Jane LoveseatĀ in Totem Storm. The huge space offers bright colors, unique designs, comfortable spaces and urban inspiration. Designed by Camenzind Evolution, these offices are both playful and inspiring.

Rotating Towers

 

Once a skyscraper has been designed, the shape doesn’t really change. But this new, innovative design by Italian architect David Fisher allows a skyscraper to change shape, almost every minute. Each floor can rotate on its own axis, to create a completely different look every few hours. The floors are powered by turbines, one for every single one of the 80-story building. Two of these skyscrapers will be built in the near future, one in Dubai and one in Moscow.
