DesignTree

Lighting often gains inspiration from everyday objects, and these lights from Designtree Studio look a lot like pills. The name of these lights, surprisingly enough is “Pil” but these offer more than just a drug reference. The hand-made wooden tops come are available with both fogged glass or clear and would add a great look to a mid-century modern room.

The uniquely design bowl gives the illusion that it might be slipping off the edge, but it remains set in place. The counter-balance of the weight is a truly ingenious design and will give guests quiet a scare when they think Nemo’s home is headed for dry-land below.

Cocoon Fireplaces in the Aeries series will soon be available at Hold It Contemporary Home, starting at $3,999.

Flatiron Building

Small apartments are not hard to find in Japan and historic buildings in New York City, but this building combines the two cultures. The “Flatiron Building” in Shiga, Japan is modeled after the building of the same name in NYC. Seven total units make up the four floors and although the outside of the building may look different in color, the design can now be found in two countries.
