The Polymorphic bench was created by architecture students at Columbia University. The double-side kinetic form allows you to create a move the sides up or down along the bench. It offers a seesaw effect that can create a unique lounge area for students around campus.

Long layovers are often exhausting and annoying. But what if during your multiple hours in the airport, you could take a nap, surf the internet or read a book, all in the comfort of your own little room. Well, that is the idea behind the SleepBox. The mini-motel room offers a space to re-energize during airport layovers. It was designed by Russian architects from the Arch Group and the Sleepbox is now available in Moscow’s airport. Simply rent the box out for a quick catnap or a full night of sleep.

The Farm to Fork mindset has a new champion. The Plantable offers food straight off the vine to the table because it is all combined into one. The design by JAILmake has a solid oak surface and allows your table to bloom up to 4 different plants in each of the legs. It is an amazing idea and a great look.

Metropol Parasol is the World’s Largest Wooden structure in Seville, Spain. Designed by Jurgen Mayer H. Architects, the parasol flows over sidewalks and walkways in waves of honeycomb patterns. The design is created from wood, steel and polyurethane bonding and stretches for more than 18,000 square feet.

Saltbox Drinking & Dining is officially open for business. The new gastro-lounge styled eatery is now the restaurant for the The Sé San Diego, which will soon be the Kimpton Hotel. The restaurant space offers a great rustic and comfortable feel with lots of warm light. As for the food, that has all been created by Executive Chef Simon Dolinky, formerly chef of BLVD 16 Restaurant at the Hotel Palomar Los Angeles and sous chef at JSix under Christian Graves.

London is making a lot of changes and “upgrades” to their modern architecture before the Olympic Games next summer. But one addition won’t be on land, it will be in the Thames. The Floating River Park is scheduled to being construction and to be completed in time for Games in 2012. The park will be half a mile long and nearly 40 feet wide at parts and will float from the Blackfriars Bridge down until the Tower of London. The design is by Gensler Architects want this space to contain everything and become a tourist destination in itself, as well as a pathway within the city of London.

We have seen repurposed tires turned into to tables, but this tire art keeps the rubber in its useful form, but makes them more beautiful. The designers at Studio Wim Delvoye have cut shapes into all sorts of everyday items but the tires are so unique and interesting. Find out more info about the tires here.
